Our Condo in Portland
One of our main concerns in choosing to live in a condo was 'space', or the lack thereof, compared to the much larger house
we were used to living in. Therefore we gave much thought to choosing which pieces of furniture to take with us, and
how they might be arranged most effectively in our new, much smaller space.
Our old home had room for everything we needed, and after years of living there we had arranged everything to suit us in a completely
satisfactory way. Now we'd have to squeeze things down into about half the space, without losing altogether our individual areas
for activities and projects.
Dale made a plan view drawing of the condo on a large piece of graph paper, with cut-outs for various pieces of furniture.
We then started moving the furniture pieces here and there until we found an arrangement that seemed likely to work well for us.
Later, when we actually moved into the condo, we had the movers put every piece into its assigned spot. This was accomplished
on Dec. 13, 2011 -- just ten weeks after we first thought of moving to Portland.
